[i]eggplant posting in [i]trashy_eats: Cooking in Poverty the FOURTEENTH.

Hey, kids.

It's been a while.

I've been busy with more poverty, but I have internet access again, so things are okay.

And to show you that things are okay, I bring you a recipe.

Bad-quality pictures inside! )

Enjoy it, kids. xD

[i]rebecky_mo posting in [i]trashy_eats: TEIT Report: McDonald's Chicken Parmigiana Snack Wrap

So yesterday I told you guys about a new item at the McDonalds' restaurants across Canada, the Chicken Parmigiana Wrap. I also promised you guys I'd check it out and report back my findings. I've come to fulfill that promise. ^^

Unfortunately, as I grabbed it while waiting for the bus, I have no pictures. But since it was only 20 minutes ago, it's still fresh in my mind, so I hope my inner artist can describe it properly.

My Opinion )

[i]octoberheart7 posting in [i]trashy_eats: Trashed-Up Poor Man's Meal

Soooo, I have some potatoes going soft, some very strong onion and some hot dogs needing to be used up.  What to make, what to make?  Clara's Poor Man's Meal, of course!

But I didn't quite follow her recipe... )

I was at an open house/potluck thing on boxing day, and encountered two wonderfully trashy and delicious things:

Ham marinated in cola (the outside was brown and goopy and divine!)

"Swedish"(?) meatballs: frozen meatballs, baked and then sauced with no-name chili sauce and grape jelly. Unbelievably tasty!

So there's this gas station 2 minutes away from my office that sells really good food. The prices are good too.

This is a chicken tender wrap. The wrap is jalapeno, there is mozzarella, tomato, and lettuce in it. It was also huge, and only cost $2.49.

It was delicious.

[i]leoparda posting in [i]trashy_eats: Xmas leftover heaven...

I work for my sister as my niece's nanny. I'm usually also her holiday caterer/cook since she hates working in the kitchen. This means I get first dibs on any and all party leftovers.

The Christmas haul included 3 lbs of ham and its attendant glaze, 2 lbs of smoked turkey breast (bone-in) and -my personal favorite- 2 lbs of breaded chicken tenders. Hubby and I have been eating any and all of these all week.

Last night's creation was the diced chicken tenders, steamed carrots, shredded cabbage and some onion sauteed in the rendered ham fat, served over white rice. It was soooooo good! So very good, in fact, we ate it all before I could snap some pictures to share with you guys.

I saved most of the ham grease to cook the rest of the cabbage in this weekend. I may or may not use the rest of the ham with it. Maybe I'll use the turkey instead?

sooooooooooooooo last night i was digging through the fridge, which i really needed to clean out, and found some broken cookies and cookie crumbs in a bag (which used to be cranberry-macadamia nut-white chocolate chip cookies courtesy of BF's step-grandma) so i put some in a bowl, put a knob of butter on top, nuked it for 30 seconds, added a spoonful of buttercream icing from the secret stash in the fridge, and mixed it up. i don't have pictures cause i ate it too fast and it also looked like barf.

tonight i made "potato soup" .. the recipe came from the back of the giant box of mashed potato flakes we got from the food pantry in like.. september that i decided it was time to use. it involved cooking onions and carrots in butter until soft, adding milk (and a can of green beans because i'm a member of 'i have to sneak vegetables into everything because i'm afraid my boyfriend will die of scurvy anonymous'), heating, removing from heat, and stirring in the potato flakes. then i decided it wasn't good enough and tore up SEVEN borden singles and nuked the whole thing for a minute or so and stirred it up to get the cheese product meltiness .. all mixed in.

our food stamps don't renew for a week or so.. i am going to make some strange dishes in the next couple of days, haha!

oh btw. we got like 246354 pounds of deer from the BF's dad's family.. so we've had fried deer nuggets twice since christmas, lololol. except all we have is house autry seafood breader so they remind me of weirdo fried oysters. but still delicious. deer is the best meat ever.

Thought you guys might be interested in this. McDonald's Canadian restaurants have just unveiled a new item; naturally it's "For A Limited Time", and I think it's for Canada ONLY.

Magic Shell has a new flavor: Cupcake. It's supposed to taste like yellow cake. Has anyone here tried it? And is it worth the calories?
